Reusable Knitted Swiffer Cover

Note: After coming up with the crocheted version of this, I had many requests for a knitted version. Ask and you shall receive. :-) The pictures in the instructions use the same pictures as the crocheted version, but the final picture showing the completed project is the knitted one. I made this cover in seed stitch to help grab dirt off of the floors.

I love my Swiffer, but I hate the disposable covers that come with it. I have made about a dozen covers out of leftover Sugar n Cream yarn, and they work amazingly well! Just put them on the Swiffer, wet them down, and use them, or you can just use them dry for dust and animal fur. After you are done, take them off, and throw them in the washer, and then reuse!

My Swiffer measures 9 1/4 inches around and 10 inches wide, I think that is the size of a typical Swiffer. After a wash, though, they shrink and need to be stretched to be put back on the Swiffer, but this makes for a nice, snug fit, which is great for scrubbing the floors.

Now, on to the pattern:

Reusable Knitted Swiffer Cover Pattern

Gauge: 4.5 st / 1 in

Supplies:

• Cotton Yarn Scraps

• Size 7US Knitting Needles

• Darning Needle

• Measuring Tape

Cast on 17 St.

Row 1: *K1,P1* repeat from * to end

Repeat this row until you reach a length of 15 inches. Then fold over the edges 2.5 inches on each edge like this:

And then sew each edge with a whip stitch like this:

Weave in all your loose ends, and then flip the "pockets" on the ends so the sewn edges are on the inside, and then put on your Swiffer and then use!
